A mourning cover of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was released by BJP leader Murli Manohar Sharma here on his first death anniversary on Friday. The cover was also posted at Bhubaneswar on the day by Anil Dhir, secretary of the Mourning Cover Collectors’ Society of India.
Black-bordered mourning covers are issued to mark the demise of statesmen and leaders as a mark of homage to them.
Speaking on the occasion, MM Sharma said that very few people in public life have the privilege to be a legend in their lifetime and Vajpayee was amongst such rare personalities. Anil Dhir said Atalji was a towering but gentle colossus in the political arena, a remarkable parliamentarian and Prime minister. Dr CS Baisakh, secretary of Kendujhar Philatelic Association, and many other prominent persons were present on the occasion.
