The Aluminium Association of India (AAI) and Italy’s leading aluminium association ASSOMET & AMAFOND would soon sign an MoU for investing in joint venture in the upcoming Aluminium Park at Angul which is being jointly developed by the National Aluminium Company limited (Nalco) and the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco).
Italian Consul General Damiano Francovigh along with other officials met AAI Chairman and Nalco CMD Dr Tapan Kumar Chand here on Tuesday and held discussions for collaboration between aluminium industries of India and Italy.
Dr Chand was optimistic about a business partnership and proposed the Italian delegation to visit the Nalco and other industries in Odisha, to which the Consul General agreed.
“With large bauxite reserves and presence of major aluminum players like Nalco, Hindalco and Vedanta, Odisha is considered to be the aluminium capital of India. Global firms should come forward for investing in joint ventures with upstream and downstream units,” said Dr Chand.
The MoU is scheduled to be signed during the next visit of the Italian industry delegation in January 2018.
