On the World Environment Day on Friday, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT-M), Bhubaneswar, a branch of ICT Mumbai with the CSR funding of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation Limited (OBCC) for cleaning of lakes, including Bindusagar, at various locations around the Lingaraj Temple here.
The ICT would employ developed technology of hydrodynamic cavitation to clean the lakes. The OBCC will furnish details on present quality and volume of water in lakes to be cleaned. OBCC MD Er (EIC) Jaya Krishna Das and ICT-IOC KGP Director Prof Bhaskar N Thorat inked the MoU. It is aimed to complete the cleanup drive in three months, but the duration depends upon Covid-19 restrictions.
