Mother urges Govt for action against boyfriend

While the Chandrasekharpur police have expedited investigation into the suicide of software professional Sweta Utkal Kumari, the deceased’s mother on Tuesday urged the State Government for action against the accused.

In a video message, Sweta’s mother alleged that she lost her daughter because of her male friend Soumyajeet Mohapatra and she requests the Government to take suitable action against him. She alleged that Soumyajeet ruined her daughter’s life.

A case has been registered at the Chandrasekharpur police station under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of IPC based on the complaint by Sweta’s family against Soumyajeet.

Following the FIR, police interrogated Soumyajeet for hours. Sources said the investigators asked Soumyajeet around 17 questions. If needed, he would be summoned for further questioning.

Sweta’s mobile phone Call Detail Record (CDR) report revealed that she had called Soumyajeet 15 times before ending her life on Sunday. She made the last phone call at around 1.30 am. However, Soumyajeet did not receive the calls.

Meanwhile, an audio of the last phone call between Sweta and Soumyajeet has gone viral on social media platforms. Soumyajeet is heard repeatedly using abusive language against Sweta, which perhaps abetted her to take the extreme step.

In the audio, Soumyajeet asked Sweta to go away from his life at any cost. He warned her that he would not hesitate to start a love relationship with any other girl. He wanted to get rid of her. He was heard saying in the audio, “Nehin Rehna Hai Mujhe Tere Saath.”

Sweta said in her reply, “I will end my life today itself because you are misbehaving with me a lot. Soumyajeet, you can’t do this to me.”
