Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday asked DRDA PDs and BDOs to ensure more transparency in allotment of houses under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana.

“The State Government is committed to convert all kutcha houses to pucca ones within four years. The guidelines for the Biju Patnaik Pucca Ghar Yojana have been revised to make it more transparent. This year, four lakh houses have already been constructed against the targeted seven lakh houses. All should ensure completion of at least 75,000 houses per month during the next four months,’ Patnaik said while addressing a two-day workshop of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Project Directors and the Block Development Officers (BDOs) here.

Patnaik said the PDs and the BDOs should ensure that each beneficiary get awarded with the incentive in the next four to six months of completion of their houses as per the guideline. “When there is a drought-like situation in the State, My Government has decided to give an additional 50 man days to MGNREGS job card holders,” he said.

Stating that the Gopabandhu Gramin Yojana has been extended to all 30 districts, the Chief Minister advised officers to work together for successful implementation of the Yojana and drough-related schemes in rural areas.

The two-day event would have an intense deliberation on the modalities for successful implementation of programmes for development of rural infrastructure.

Among others, Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Sahu and Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh were present.
