Despite the various awareness campaigns carried out by the Government and social organisations, superstitious practices continue to plague certain parts of the State. In the latest example, a one-month-old baby girl was allegedly branded with hot iron by her uncle at Tikarpada village under the Khunta police station in Mayurbhanj district.
According to reports, the infant had developed stomach ache when her uncle branded the baby with hot iron as a remedy for the ailment. Condition of the baby girl deteriorated after the incident, following which her family members admitted her toUdala Hospital. Her condition was stated to be stable after treatment.
