The southwest monsoon is likely to hit the Odisha coast within seven days, the Meteorological Regional Centre here said on Saturday.
The monsoon hit the Kerala coast on Saturday being delayed by six days from its usual onset. Thus, the monsoon would also reach Odisha late, said IMD.
The IMD centre informed that southern parts of Odisha would experience pre-monsoon rain from June 13.
“Usually, the monsoon in Odisha arrives after eight to nine days after its onset in Kerala. So far, no forecast has been made regarding its onset in Odisha. However, we expect that it will take another week’s time for the monsoon to arrive in Odisha,” said meteorologist Sashikant.
