As monsoon current has advanced up to Andhra Pradesh and the south-west monsoon has covered some areas of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, it is expected to move into parts of south Odisha by June 8 or 9, Centre of Environment and Climate (CEC), of the Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan, said on Friday.
The monsoon current is likely to get further strengthened over next two to three days leading to formation of a low pressure area over north-west Bay of Bengal on June 10-11 along West Bengal-Odisha coast which would facilitate advancement of south-west monsoon into Odisha, CEC said.
The system is likely to concentrate into a depression causing rains from night of June 10 and intensity of rainfall would increase from evening of June 11 in coastal belt of State.
