A King Cobra was grievously injured in a fight with its arch rival a mongoose in a forest near the Panchalingeswar Temple in Nilgiri in Baleswar district.
The incident was filmed in mobile phones by locals.
The cobra was trying to escape the deadly attack of the mongoose by climbing onto a tree while the latter was pulling and biting the serpent’s tail.
Being informed about the incident, local tourist guide Manoranjan Das reached the spot and rescued the cobra, which was later provided treatment at the Nilgiri Veterinary Hospital.
