Late on Wednesday night teo houses of Pravakar Swain and Bhikari Swain of village Barimunda Nuapokharisahi were completely gutted in a fire.
Cash of Rs 2 lakh, gold ornaments and household assets were totally destroyed in the fire which spread from a cowshed. Villagers and family members rescued all cows.
Pravakar had borrowed a loan of Rs 2 lakh from a bank recently for his daughter’s marriage. The money and gold ornaments had been kept in an aluminium box. Nimapara Fire Station personnel rushed to the village and doused the fire.
After the incident, the Bamanala Revenue Inspector reached the village for an inspection.
