Based on the song Omm Namah Shivaya, a dance was performed by chairperson of Mokshya Dr Sujata Mishra and her troupe with Rag Bibhasa and Tal Ekatali here on Saturday.
As the song suggests, the opening invocation dance was devoted to lord Shiva with Sujata Mishra’s dance choreography and late Nilachala Patra’s music composition. Mokshya organised the second edition of its Abhilasha, an Odissi dance choreography programme, at the Rabindra Mandap.
The centerpiece and second item of the function was a dance rendition on Maya, an extract from eminent Odia poet Padmabhusan Ramakant Rath’ s long and popular poem Sriradha. This was followed by the dance performances based on the songs Nartakee, Bajilani Bajiba and Nachanti Krushna ki Madhure.
Danseuse Sujata Mishra and her troupe including Gaurishankar Tripathy, lipsa Das, Timirasu Pattnaik, Bibhas Dash and Saumya Das performed making the cultural evening engrossing. In the inaugural part of the ceremony, eminent Odissi dancer Ileana Citaristi, singer Pafulla Kar and president of Bhubaneswar Music Circle Dr Arabinda Behera were present as the guests and appreciated the efforts and imaginations of Dr Sujata Mishra.
