Purna Chandra Mohapatra received the best Senior Citizen Award by Minister Prafulla Samal on the observance of the International Day for Senior Citizen by the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department.
Mohapatra was awarded Rs 20,000 and a certificate. As many as nine senior citizens from different across State including Mohapatra were awarded for different achievement in their life.
Mohapatra is a former Teshildar of Paralakhemundi and has been continually engaged in the social services. He has been actively involved in establishing orphanages in Paralakhemkundi town, re-establishing of Parsuram Gurukul, involved in providing service during the Mahendratanya Barani Snana where about four lakh people come to take holy bath in the festival held in Mahendratanya river.
