Even though four days have passed since the cyclone Hudhud played havoc in many parts of Gajapati district, affected people were still waiting for relief materials to reach them.
People told Mohana MlA Basanti Mallick and PRI members who visited some of the storm-ravaged villages in Nuagada, R Udaygiri and Mohana blocks on Thursday.
The MlA assured the worried victims of Kirting village in Mohana block, which was worst-hit by the storm, that she would do the needful so that they get relief from the State
Government soon.
Kirting village chief informed Mallick that 26 out of total 76 houses of the village have been damaged by the storm.
However, the MlA urged the villagers to accept any quantum aid the Government would extend to them without complaining much. She said that the State Government is facing shortage of funds for which they have asked Central Government to provide an aid of Rs500 crores.
Mallick also assured the villagers that she would take steps to construct a bridge at Kirting soon.
