A group of rights activists have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take drastic action against suspended Odessa-cadre IPS officer Satish Gajbhiye for use of excessive force during a public demonstration prior to the arrest of self-styled godman Sarathi Baba on August 7 in Kendrapada.
The activists in a memorandum to the PM have maintained that the former Kendrapada SP has also violated All India Service (Conduct) Rules.
“It is now exposed that the 2002-batch IPS officer has purchased acres of land of Dalit people in Gop tehsil in his wife’s name and also encroached land of many other Dalit people. The suspension decision by the State Government is not satisfactory,” maintained the memorandum.
The memorandum was signed by activist Pradip Pradhan, lawyer Sudhir Mohanty, Dalit leader Ashok Mallik, Basti Sangharsh Samiti leader Pratap Sahu, Prativa Das among many others.
