The stage is set for a mega farmers’ convention to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Bargarh on Sunday. The preparations for the rally have reached a final stage with party workers and security personnel leaving no stone unturned for a smooth event.

For the first time, Modi and Amit Shah would address a rally in the State jointly along with several other central party leaders. Party State spokesperson Sajjan Sharma on Saturday told reporters that the Sunday convention would be the greatest of all rallies of the BJP in Odisha.

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh, Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram and Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will also join the Bargarh convention.

As many as 15 farmer leaders would interact with Modi. The PM and Shah would highlight the schemes initiated by the Central Government for the benefit of farmers.

Meanwhile, Bargarh town is flooded with party flags, posters, banners and hoardings of Modi, Shah, Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram and State unit president Basanta Panda. The State police too have made elaborate security arrangements for a smooth conduct of the convention. While DGP KB Singh has already visited the spot to review the security arrangements, other senior police officials, including ADG Satyajit Mohanty, are taking stock of the situation.

Police sources said besides SPG and NSG personnel, 65 platoons and 300 officers of the State police are to be deployed at the meeting venue.
