The Modi Government, which has miserably failed to control the rising prices, has in the name of demonetisation scrapped Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, throwing the common man’s normal life out of gear, said All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) secretary Amarjit Kaur in a workers’ Samavesh here on Saturday.
At the meeting presided over by AITUC State president Ashok Das, she said while the Government is saying that it is a step against black money, no racketeers have been caught. On the other hand, rich and influential people stashing black money and land mafia have benefited immensely. The country’s middleclass, daily wage earners, workers and small traders have suffered due to the note ban.
The middleclass who had deposited money in the banks are not able to withdraw it for their treatment, son and daughters marriage and construct their house. However, action is not being taken against the capitalists, corporates who have defaulted in repaying lakhs and crores of rupees of loans to the banks, Kaur said.
The rally was held here on occasion of the AITUC, the labour wing of the CPI, holding a national-level workshop for its youth cadres.
