Modi and Shah needn't advise Rahul: Khuntia

AICC secretary and former Rajya Sabha member Rama Chandra Khuntia on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah have no right to speak on the election of Rahul Gandhi as Congress president.

Khuntia said that 48 members of the AICC signed on a five-point proposal over the issue, besides general secretaries like Mohan Prakash, RPN Singh, Pl Punia, Asha Kumari, Girija Vyas and Khuntia.

He stated that had Rahul sought power earlier he could have been the Congress president during the UPA regime. Instead he chose to work for the party to strengthen its organisation.

The Congress would be more strengthened with Rahul becoming the president and more youths would be attracted towards the party, stated Khuntia and added that, since Modi and Shah are not the AICC members, they have no right to speak on Rahul’s election to the post.
