Sociopolitical leader and Smt Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT) chairman Suparno Satpathy tweeted that theFriday Mahanadi debate in the Odisha Assembly was a farce. He also pointed out how TV channels had been gagged on telecasting the discussion.
He lamented that only 40 MlAs out of the 147 were present for the crucial discussion in the Assembly on the day.
Satpathy stated that the Mahanadi issue has been politicized by the ruling BJD for mileage ahead of the forthcoming Panchayat elections. He wondered why the BJD did not show the same enthusiasm in the Assembly during the debate on the issue that its party men showed while seeing off Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the air port who was visiting Delhi for attending a tripartite meeting with Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh over the Mahanadi issue.
