Cuttack-Barabati BJD MlA Debashis Samantaray’s sister-in-law (younger brother’s wife) Sikha Samantray on Wednesday appeared before the State Commission for Women (SCW) here and intimated her grievances in connection with the harassment petition lodged by her against the MlA.

Accompanied by her son, daughter and sister, Sikha, wife of the MlA’s younger brother Kaushik Samantray, discussed her problems at the SCW.

Sources said the commission has taken two weeks’ time for investigation and action.

“I have full faith in the SCW and am sure that I will get justice,” said Sikha after emerging out of the commission’s office.

On the other hand, a defensive MlA Samantray on the day filed a station diary at the Badambadi police station in his home city Cuttack alleging that Sikha is trying to defame him and create disturbance in the family because he failed to pay her the amount of money which she demanded.

The MlA stated that he has been giving some money to his younger brother monthly to run his family as he is unemployed. He also claimed that he has spent Rs 70-80 lakh for his brother’s cancer treatment.

Sikha has alleged that she is being tortured mentally by the MlA. “He is not giving the required money needed for the treatment of my husband,” she had said.
