MLAs demand HC Bench at Balangir

Published on:

Members belonging to all parties on Saturday demanded that a permanent Bench of the Orissa High Court be set up at Balangir as per recommendation the Justice Jaswant Singh Commission. Raising the issue during Zero Hour,

Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra (Congress) lamented that the State Government has slept over the closure of courts in Odisha due to lawyers’ agitation.

He said the State Government should recommend to the Centre naming Balangir as the place for  establishment of a Permanent Bench of the  Orissa High Court as demanded by the agitating lawyers.

“As per the Jaswant Singh Commission, Balangir is the right place for establishment a HC Permanent Bench. People of western Odisha don’t oppose Balangir. The Government should send this recommendation to the Centre soon so that lawyers’ agitation would come to an end. People would get legal services,” demanded Mishra.

Among others, BJP Legislture Party Leader KV Singh Deo, BJD’s Jogeshwar Behera and Ayub Khan and the BJP’s Radharani Panda supported the demand placed by the Leader of Opposition.
