An FIR was filed in the Rourkela Mahila Police Station by a woman against Rajesh Tirkey, son of Biramitrapur Independent MlA George Tirkey. The complainant alleges that Rajesh had raped her under the pretext of marriage.
Basing on the FIR, the police have registered a case under Section 376(2)(N) and 294 of IPC. Even the statement record of the complainant under Section 164 of CrPC was made before a Magistrate. Detaining Rajesh, the police have sent the woman for medical examination and are investigating the matter.
On the other hand, George Tirkey has said his son is innocent; rather the girl was blackmailing him.
He added they will furnish audio recordings as evidence to the police in this connection. It may be mentioned here that Rajesh is a banker in Chhattisgarh.
