MlA Tarai lands in controversy again

Yet another controversy has dogged Kendrapada BJD MlA Kishore Tarai as he mentioned deponent’s (own) name as lelin lenka in the affidavit submitted to the Returning Officer during the general elections in 2014.

Earlier to this, he has already faced allegations of writing his father’s and wife’s names wrongly in the affidavit.

According to reports, Tarai had on March 26, 2014 submitted a 16-page affidavit along with nomination Form-B before the district Collector-cum-Returning Officer to fight for Kendrapada MlA seat.

In the last page of verification, Tarai has written his name as lelin lenka but signed the page in his own name, Kishore Chandra Tarai.

Notary Radhashyam Chand had prepared the affidavit and put his signature without verification. The most surprising fact is that the Returning Officer overlooked the erroneous affidavit and declared the candidature as valid.

The reported revelation has raised many eyebrows in both political and public circles.

“How it happened that the Returning Officer accepted the affidavit and made Tarai’s candidature valid,” many wanted to know.

Meanwhile, State Election Officer DN Gupta has taken the matter seriously while saying that the Election Commission of India would certainly examine it and take appropriate action if a formal complaint is lodged in this regard.
