Brahmapur MLA Bikram Kumar Panda proved his sensibility again on Tuesday by arranging a Swarga Rath (dead body van) for a woman who died in the MKCG Hospital here a day after delivering a baby.
The woman from a remote tribal village Bagderi in Koraput district had been admitted to the hospital five days ago. Her condition was serious after she give birth to the baby. Her body was lying in the hospital for many hours.
As the family was running short of money and unable to take the body to the village, knowing about the plight of the family MLA Panda rushed to the hospital, arranged the van of BeMC to carry the body. Panda also extended monetary support to the family.
Panda had donated four Swarga Rath to the BeMC from his MLA Areas Development Fund. During the Covid pandemic, he had helped many distressed families.
