Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex is again in troubled water due to a 12-hour Sukinda Bandh call given by local BJD MlA Pritiranjan Ghadai and his party supporters on September 14.

The bandh call has been given due to gross negligence of the area by the Tata Steel and other industrial houses, said Ghadai at a meeting at Sukinda recently. locals have been badly affected due to industrialisation and the negative mentality of the corporate houses in Kalinga Nagar, he alleged.

Ghadai said the industrial houses are not fulfilling their promises and not focusing on peripheral development. He called upon his followers to participate in the bandh and paralyse the industrial corridor.

Expressing his concern over the “highhandedness” of the Tata Steel, the major industrial house in Kalinga Nagar, Ghadai criticised company officials for their callousness over the issues. A 15-day ultimatum was given to given to the company to fulfil a 12-point charter of demands, but the company is silent over it, he alleged.

The meeting reiterated the demand that all displaced locals be given jobs in steel industries in the area and the rehab points be converted as model villages.
