The bail application of arrested chit fund scam accused BJD MlA Pravat Ranjan Biswal was also rejected by the Khurda District
and Sessions Judge Court here on Tuesday.
Earlier, his bail application had been turned down by the CBI CJM Special Court here.
Biswal’s lawyer had applied to the district court seeking bail for his client on health ground on Monday. During the hearing on the bail application, the CBI lawyer argued that Biswal, being an elected people’s representative, might influence witnesses and tamper with evidences. Hearing the lawyers of both parties, the court rejected Biswal’s bail plea.
It may be noted that Biswal was arrested by the CBI recently for his alleged complicity in the Seashore chit fund scam. He is now undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital.
