The 11 BJP supporters, who had been sent to judicial custody in connection to the Niali MlA Pramod Mallick assault incident at Tirtol during the Prime Minister’s visit to Paradip, were released from the Alipingal Sub-Jail on Wednesday, two days after they were granted bail from the SDJM Court here.
A week ago, BJP State president Basanta Panda and some other State-level party leaders had visited the jail to extend moral support to the jailed workers and termed the incident as a political vendetta for which the party workers were booked in a “false case”. Basing on a complaint by MlA Mallick’s security man Badal Bhoi, the Tirtol police had arrested the BJP workers Anil Das, Sagar Das, Satyaranjan Sahoo, Soumyaranjan Mohapatra, Tofan Mohapatra, Chaitan Misra, Pratap Sahoo, Maheswar Parida, Dipak Prusty, Pramod Mohanty and Ram Chandra Sutar.
