The agitating medicos of the Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati (MKCG) Medical College, Brahmapur on Friday called off their ongoing strike. The students were protesting the proposed accommodation of Jaring-based Sardar Rajas Medical College students into various private and Government medical colleges.
The aggrieved students took the decision to withdraw the stir after their meeting with their college Principal on Friday morning. On Thursday, Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak had talked to the MKCG students who were on strike since last month.
The students were upset about the recent Odisha High Court verdict of accommodation of Sardar Rajas Medical College students into their college.
They were sitting on a dharna and had locked off the college. The students opened locked gate in the presence of the Brahmapur Superintendent of Police (SP) and other senior officials.
Meanwhile, students from Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla and Hi Tech College are still continuing their agitation.
Notably, students from MKCG, VIMSAR, and Hi Tech Medical College, on Thursday took out a protest rally in Bhubaneswar against the transfer of Sardar Rajas medical college students with lower All India Pre-Medical (AIPMT) rank to their colleges.
They have been urging the Government for a fair decision for the sake of their future.
