MKCG ragging: Victim takes back FIR against seniors

Published on:

A second year MBBS student Abhishek Das of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Brahmapur, who had lodged an FIR against his seniors for allegedly subjecting him to ragging on Thursday, withdrew the FIR on Friday, said Baidyanath Pur police station IIC Ajay Mishra.

Mishra said the complainant decided to withdraw the FIR after his third year seniors approached him for an amicable solution. They made up their minds after holding discussions among them, he added. Notably, Das, who hails from Bhubaneswar, had brought serious allegations of ragging and torture by his senior fellow students of the college on Wednesday night. The incident was the outcome of an argument between Das and his seniors over attending a meeting in a hostel. When Das didn’t attend the meeting and went to his home on the same day, his seniors asked him about his absence and thrashed him for defying their orders. The incident came to light when victim’s parents lodged a complaint with the police. This incident was condemned by all sections of the people here. Now the freshers are in panic and tight-lipped apprehending action by their seniors.
