Vigilance sleuths arrested MKCG Medical and Hospital Pharmacist Mary Khan on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs 800 from Manas Samantray of Alandapada village under Puri district’s Krushna Prasad block to administer an anesthesia injection to his ailing father before an operation on Thursday.
Manas’ father Katakishore Samantray was undergoing treatment at the Orthopedic Department of the premier hospital following an accident on November 26. The doctors had fixed December 13 for a surgery. However, Mary demanded Rs 800 to administer the injection.
Acting on the Manas’ complaint, Vigilance officers said a trap and caught Mary red-handed taking the demanded bribe money from Manas in her office room. Following arrest, Mary was forwarded to court.
Mary’s house at Aravinda Nagar 1st line was under search, said Vigilance SP Mayadhar Swain.
