In a shocking incident, a student of the MKCG Medical College here was allegedly attacked with acid by none other than her husband on Thursday.
The victim, identified as Minati Kumari Pradhan, a student of Third Year Diploma in Medical laboratory Technology (DMlT) and a resident of Barida village under the Kabisuryanagar police limits, was on her way to attend classes at around 10 am when her spouse Niranjan Pradhan of Polasara allegedly threw acid at her and then fled the spot.
Minati sustained critical burn injuries on her face, chest, hand and eye and was hospitalised.
“My daughter got married on May 7 this year. However, her relationship with her husband deteriorated after a month of the marriage, following which she was staying at a hostel leaving her in-laws’ house. She told me that her husband has committed the acid-attacking act,” said Bipin Pradhan, father of the victim.
