Paediatric Surgery Assistant Professor Dr Arun Kumar Das of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur was arrested by Vigilance officials on Friday for demanding and accepting bribe of `10,000.
Das demanded the bribe from one Suraj Chouhan of Soura Sahi village of Nabarangpur district for conducting an operation and treatment of his newborn child.
On Chouhan’s complaint, a trap was laid and Dr Arun Kumar Das caught red-handed by Vigilance officer at his office chamber located at the Paediatric Department in the hospital premises.
Search operation of the rented residential house of Dr Das situated at Tota Sahi, Bijipur, Brahmapur and parental house at Chatrapur were on.
