The People for Animals (PFA) and United Kingdom-based organisation Mission Rabies have jointly set a target to immunise 5,000 stray dogs in 35 wards of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to remove rabies from them between September 15 and 30 this year.
The fortnight-long programme will be known as Mission Rabies and will be supported by the State Animal Resources Development Department along with the Veterinary College and the BMC. Technical hands along with expertise in this field would be deployed for catching dogs and immunising them and leaving them in the same place immediately, said PFA representatives at a Press meet here on Friday.
