The body of a two-year-old girl child, who had gone missing from in front of her house on Wednesday morning, was found in a gunny bag near the Ib river in Sundergarh district on Friday evening.
The Sundergarh police on Saturday detained a person and interrogated him suspecting his involvement in kidnapping and killing of the infant. Family members of the deceased alleged that the child’s killing was an act of sorcery.
However, the police suspected that the kidnapping and killing might have occurred due to internal rivalry of the culprit with the parents of the deceased child.
The child, Disha, was daughter of Krupakar Kantet of Abankela under the Bhasma police limits in the district. “We are interrogating a person and we will divulge the details after investigation,” said Bhasma PS IIC PK Biswal.
