The body of the woman high school teacher who had gone missing since December 13 was recovered in knee-deep water of river Kakharua by locals in Pallahara of Angul district.
An Activa scooter, lady shoes, a vanity bag and clothes were also seized from the spot by police. Suspecting that the teacher, identified as Muni Sae (33) of Gopapura Sahi at Jamardiha, might be murdered and her body was thrown into the river, her family members demanded a thorough probe into the incident. Sources said Sae had given an application for a half-day leave to her school headmaster on December 13 after teaching for two periods. She cited in the application that she wanted to withdraw cash from a bank and, therefore, wanted leave for half a day.
While leaving the school, Sae had told some co-workers that she had to pay Rs 6,000 to her brother, who was coming from Burla. However, when Sae”s brother reached home and found she was absent and her in-laws as well as parents were making frantic searches to trace her, sources said.
