Missing Sanatan Mallick alias Raju, son of Dukhishyam Mallick and Chhaila  Mallick of Ainipada village under Pattamundai police station, has recently returned home after a span of 18 years.

Hundreds of curious villagers have been congregating for last few days at the house of Mallick to see the reunion among the family members.

Recounting the past, Raju’s mother Chaila Mallick stated that when Raju was 16 years’ old, he went with his 18 years’ old elder brother Amulya to work in a restaurant at Paradip in 1994.  Next year, Raju went on missing from Paradip. His brother Amulya later made a frantic search to trace him but in vain. later, Amulya met his untimely demise, while still the younger brother was to arrive at the house.

It was the most turbulent period for the parents of the duo. However, ending all speculations, Raju resurfaced in the village a few days back and took his parents as well as his villagers by surprise.

All the same, their joy knew no bounds when they saw their younger son back home after nearly a decade.

First, Raju appeared at the restaurant from where he had gone missing. His owner failed to recognize him initially. later, Raju described about him and his elder brother, which was enough for the owner to regain his memory. Raju was shocked to know that his elder brother had died.

Raju’s fellow villager Pravakar Mahakula recognized him at Paradip and telephoned his parents and a few villagers about Raju’s reappearance. Excited, the old parents and a few villagers rushed to Paradip on Saturday to bring Raju back home.

Raju informed that in last 18 years, he had been staying in Kolkata. Even, he married at Kolkata and had become the father of a child.
