The decomposed body of Naugaon-based Cesu employee Chandra Kanta Das was recovered from the Goveri river near Alanahat on Sunday. He had gone missing two days ago.
Police detained five persons, including local Congress leader Dushasan Nayak suspecting their involvement in the incident and sent the body for autopsy on Monday. An investigation is on, informed DSP Manoj Kumar Mohanty.
locals resorted to road blockade at Naugaon Bazar and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. later the police and a magistrate rushed to the spot and pacified the mob.
Meanwhile MP Bishnu Das demanded a high level probe by the Crime Branch.
On Friday deceased Das had gone to office at Alanahat electric section but did not return home. The next day his bike had been spotted near an eatery at Alanahat. Police had started an investigation and picked up four persons from the eatery, including Congress leader Nayak who had accompanied Das.
