The body of an 18-year-old dalit college girl, who was missing since Thursday, was found by police in the Tenta canal under the Binjharapur police station in Jajpur district on Sunday evening.
The girl was Rasmita, daughter of late Fakir Sethi of village Chikana under the Binjharapur police limits.
Binjharapur police station IIC Asit Ranjan Mohanty said the girl was suspected to have been murdered by some unidentified persons.
A case has been registered under Section 302 of IPC and the body has been sent for postmortem, added Mohanty.
The girl was reading Plus Two Arts in the Baruneiswar College at Binjharapur.
