Mishra to be Internal Security Special Secy

Odisha DGP Prakash Mishra has been selected as the next Special Secretary of Internal Security in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, news website powerbuzz.in said in a report.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh called Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday to convey his Ministry’s decision to appoint Mishra in this crucial position.

The post has been lying vacant since October last year after S Jayraman, an IPS officer of the West Bengal cadre, superannuated from this office.

The Powerbuzz.in report said the contenders for the post had included Alok Kumar Verma, Arun Chandra Verma, Krishna Chaudhary and Jayanta Narayan Choudhury, all senor IPS officers. Mishra, a 1977-batch IPS officer from the Odisha cadre, has, however, been able to win the prized post, the website reported.
