Mishra pleads for journalists' pension

Congress Legislature Party Leader Narasingha Mishra on Thursday highlighted concerns regarding restrictions imposed by the State Government on journalists' access to the Lok Seva Bhawan.

Speaking in the State Assembly, Mishra urged the government to ensure free entry for working journalists. He also called for implementation of a journalists’ pension scheme akin to those in other States.

Mishra emphasised the importance of restoring journalists' rights to access the Lok Seva Bhawan for news coverage. He noted the prolonged denial of entry to journalists and urged for issuance of entry passes to facilitate their coverage of events in view of public interest.

These concerns were raised in the Assembly following a demonstration by journalists near the Assembly on Wednesday, where they pressed for their six-point charter of demands.
