Prof Amarendra Narayan Mishra assumed office as Vice-Chancellor of the Khallikote Cluster University on Tuesday and said he would emphasise on promoting quality education among students.
NCC cadets gave him a guard of honour before he took charge from incumbent VC Prof Manmath Padhy.
“My priority will be to see that all students get quality education. I will try my best to uphold the glory of the university,” the VC told The Pioneer. He said he is happy that he joined as the VC of an institution where he had studied 40 years ago.
On the issue of staff crunch, Mishra said he would examine all aspects and take up all issues, including filling up vacant posts, with the Government in a positive way.
After assuming office, the VC attended the university’s Syndicate meeting and talked to Principals of all colleges affiliated to the university. His wife Meena Mishra was present on the day. Earlier to this new posting, Mishra was the VC-in-charge of the Central University, Jharkhand. He had studied BSc in Botany in the Khallikote College (now upgraded to a cluster university) from 1971 to 1974 after completing his school education in the KC Town High School here.
