After a few days’ lull, an Indicash Automated Teller Machine (ATM) was
vandalised by some unidentified miscreants near Pakhar Chhak on the Soro-Anantapur road in the district late on Tuesday night.
The matter came to the fore in the morning after locals passing by the ATM spotted the broken kiosk and the damaged machine.
After finding the kiosk in complete disarray, the locals subsequently, informed the police. As per sources, the miscreants allegedly used a gas cutter and as they ran out of fuel they tried to set the ATM counter on fire before fleeing the spot.
On being informed, officials of Town Police Station rushed to the spot and sealed the ATM. However, it is yet to be ascertained whether money was looted from the machine.
