Three youths stole around Rs 50,000 in cash from a medicine store at IRC Village under the Nayapalli police station here by tricking its owner on Saturday.
The entire incident has been captured in the CCTV camera installed at the shop.
Initially, one of the looters in the guise of a customer arrived at the shop on the pretext of buying some product. Moments later, another miscreant, also posing as a customer, turned up and asked for a Horlicks packet.
After inquiring about the product’s MRP, the second criminal handed over some cash and escaped from the spot along with the Horlicks packet. Soon after realising that the customer had given less money for the product, the shopkeeper ran after him.
Taking advantage of the absence of the shopkeeper, a third miscreant entered the shop and decamped with the money from the cash counter.
Based on the complaint filed by the shop owner, police started a probe into the incident.
In another incident, multiple miscreants decamped with cash of around Rs 36,000 from another medicine store in the Rabi Talkies area adopting the same modus operandi.
