Miscreants looted gold jewellery after opening fire at a couple in Koraput district on Friday.
According to police, P Ashok and his wife Sunita of Boriguma were going to Jeypore at around 10 am while three bike-borne miscreants followed them from Haradaput Square near Boriguma and intercepted them on NH-26 near Randapali. They opened fire at the couple before snatching the jewellery from Sunita.
Ashok, who sustained injuries in his stomach, was rushed to the Jeypore health centre and later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital here when his condition deteriorated. The police are still investigating the case.
