Two motorbike-borne miscreants attempted to shoot Kamalalochan Das, a RTO staff of Kendrapada, near the Gopa chowk on the Paradip-Daitary Expressway while he was on his way to his office on a bike on Monday, said Kendprapada Town police station IIC Pramod Kumar lenka.
Das said he was saved as local people came to his rescue as soon as the miscreants brandished a revolver on his head. The two fled from the spot, he said.
In his FIR, Das alleged that Manguli Swain of Chakodabaranga village had sent the two miscreants to kill him over a past rivalry. Manguli used to come to the RTO office with fake documents and ask him to get his work done. As he did not cooperate, Manguli threatened him of dire consequences.
Meanwhile, the police have started an inquiry into the alleged matter after registering a case. No arrest had been made.
