In a shocking incident, a minor girl was allegedly gangraped by her male friend and his associate in the premises of the Buguda treasury office in Ganjam district on Friday.
The matter came to the fore after the victim fell unconscious at the main market in the locality. She was rescued in a critical condition and rushed to a hospital.
Sources said the girl’s male friend had called her to meet him and took her near the Buguda treasury office, where he and his friend raped her in the office premises. They fled from the spot after committing the crime.
After the matter came to light, the Buguda police registered a case and launched a probe. Acting swiftly, the police nabbed the accused duo.
A medical test of the girl was conducted and further probe was underway, Bhanjanagar SDPO Utkal Keshari Das informed.
