A minor girl was allegedly gangraped in the Nemala area of Cuttack district late on Thursday night. Two persons have been detained by police for interrogation in this connection.
Sources said two persons working with a Jatra troupe had called the nine-year-old victim on pretext of teaching her dance at night. When she went there, the accused took turns to rape her and dumped her near a bush before fleeing from the spot.
On Friday morning, her family members found the minor in unconscious state under a tree and rushed her to the Nischintakoili Community Health Centre (CHC). Doctors said the condition of the girl is stable and if required she would be shifted to the SCB Medial College Hospital here.
Following a complaint by the victim’s family, the Nemala police have detained two persons of the Jatra troupe for interrogation.
