The police have arrested on Saturday a 14- year-old boy in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old Dalit girl whose floated body was found in a pond at Fazalpur village under Koreipolice station in Jajpur district on Tuesday evening.
The victim girl’s father filed an FIR in Korei police station on Tuesday evening and alleged that the body of his daughter was floating in the village pond with injury marks. The police rushed to the spotand seized the body, said Korei police station IIC Chinmayee Sahoo.
The minor boy who belonged to minority community found that the deceased was talking over mobile phone with another youth for which he strangulated her and dumped the body in the nearby pond, added thepolice officer.
The juvenile accused was produced in the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB)at Jajpur Town on Saturday. The JJB rejected his bail petition andremanded him in the Observation Homes in Angul, added the police officer.
