An 11-year-old girl of Nadiabarei under the Patkura police station was allegedly raped by one Praffula Sethy (22) on November 3. While the girl, a primary school student, was going to defecate in a field at about 1:30 pm, Sethy, a neighbour, forcibly took her to a barricade on the pretext of providing her sweets and fire crackers and raped her, informed Patkura police station SI Gunamani Nayak.
The victim’s mother on November 8 lodged an FIR against Sethy at police station, following which the police registered a case and sent the girl for medical examination. “Hunt is on to nab the accused, who is absconding,” informed Nayak.
