In yet another incident of sexual assault on minors, a Class-III girl student of Bachaka village under the Biswanathpur police station of Kalahandi district was allegedly raped by her uncle in a nearby forest.
The girl’s mother lodged a complaint with the Biswanathpur police in this connection. Following which police have detained the accused and questioning him.
As per the complaint, the accused identified as Sanyasi Bibhara, promised the eight-year-old of giving berries, took her to the forests and allegedly raped her.
The girl after returning from the forest narrated the incident to her mother, who immediately lodged a complaint against Sanyasi at the police station.
As per police sources, the girl was sent for medical examination, the reports of which are still awaited.
“A case has been registered against the accused following the complaint of the mother. Sanyasi has been detained and we are interrogating him. He has not revealed anything yet. We are awaiting the reports,” said Kalahandi Additional SP Gopinath Mani Patra.
