A minor girl has been found pregnant at a girls’ hostel run by the State ST and SC Development Department here in the State capital.
police have begun investigation into the incidence after the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) lodged a police complaint in this regard.
As per reports, the girl’s pregnancy was detected when a routine health checkup drive was being conducted in girls’ hostels and residential schools in the city
after the reopening of schools following the summer vacation under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK).Later, the Commissionerate police arrested a youth accused of impregnating the girl.
The accused identified as Budha Murmu was arrested by the Mahila police from the Adivasi Colony in Salia Sahi here. Sources said the accused allegedly raped the victim while she had gone to her relative’s place at Salia Sahi during summer vacation. The accused is said to be a distant relative of the victim.
